THE SUNSET PEOPLE

We wanted to capture the people of sunset park in their daily lives after covid. We went around to different local businesses to promote them and their people. We also went around to public outdoor spaces to interview random passersby. Here is what they had to say.

how has covid affected you?

“Covid hasn't impacted me a lot but it has impacted where our food is going to before the pandemic we were giving our food to high-end restaurants and they were really high maintenance during the pandemic our food is mostly going towards the community which was always our goal it's just that money became an issue i think it's a good feeling knowing that the people providing them food is in their community and not the government”.

how has covid affected you?

When the pandemic hit, Seth’s life mostly became working, as the Brooklyn Grange needed to produce even more food to provide during the pandemic. This was also due to the Grange having a smaller team to work with, thus making every one person have to do more work to balance this out.

how are you now?

Now that Seth is moving on, he is reflecting on how the year of Covid mentally affected him and hopes to have more fun now that more things are open and available again.

INES BAKERY

how has covid affected you?

When Covid hit, we had to shut down the bakery, which resulted in not having an income. It was hard for me since I am a college student and have to pay a lot. I’ve also gotten Covid and been recovering ever since.

how are you now?

Now, I see my community starting to recover. I know many friends who lost their family members. Now I am working not only for my education but for my own family and their health.

how has covid affected you?

It wasn’t the same as before. Sales dropped and people didn’t come in. It was mentally straining and we couldn’t do any in-person affection, such as hugs and kisses. It came to the point where people were afraid to come into my store and sit down for a meal.

how are you now?

Now, there’s huge progress, but people must play their part and get vaccinated, and always wear a mask.
